Antiques & Collectables Appraisal Day Fair

Antiques & Collectables Appraisal Day Fair
Thank you to the Tairua community who supported the Heritage Society Fair.  A special thanks to Adam Archer who appraised antiquities continuously from 10am-2pm without a break.  Family treasurers small and large, of great value and little value passed over his table.  Sales tables ranging from from $3-$10 provided keep-stakes for visitors.  


 


Test your Knowledge

The ‘Test your Knowledge’ 10 antiques provided by Adam created a lot of interest.  
The winners were Marie Newton & Karen and Lionel & Gay Warrington. The items were: 

1  Cobbler's bunion pliers.( ball & ring stretch the leather)
2  Match striker/holder
3  Darning mushroom (socks)
4  Letter clip with brush/pen wiper
5  "Sweet Adeline" novelty ashtray (Smoke comes out his ears!)
6  Button boot hook (ladies usually)
7  Nut cracker
8  Salt or mustard cellar (Victorian)
9  Double ended scent (perfume)/smelling salts bottle
10 Opium Scales
